Amour (initiated in 2011) and Be Careful! (since 2000) are two ongoing projects by Sabine Delafon that, while opposite in appearance, reflect a continuous dialogue in her practice.

Amour explores the relationship between meaning, sound, and aesthetics through short phrases or single words painted onto large pre-existing surfaces—linen or hemp sheets—using acrylic pigments. The sheets, once destined to receive sleep, dream, or death, are transformed: standing upright, they now shield and embrace us with love, care, and vitality. The words emerge through bold lettering and symbolic colors, giving rise to works that radiate intimacy and tenderness.

Be Careful! originates from the artist’s fascination with snow globes, those childhood souvenirs encapsulating miniature worlds under water and snow. Reimagined as assemblages of glass, they become sculptures and totemic objects that at times portray figures, physical fragments, or enigmatic scenes. Glass—transparent, fragile yet resistant—defines and protects space, offering both distance and allure. It creates a boundary that is at once impenetrable and captivating, inviting contemplation and stillness.

Together, these two series embody contrasting sensibilities—the warmth of fabric and the coolness of glass—yet find completion in their opposition. Between them, suspended in this delicate tension, stands the viewer.
