FLAVIA ALBU - The vision through
29.03.2022 - 26.04.2022
The Curtains serie, which began during the artist's residency at Griffin Gallery in London, runs through Albu's entire production from 2017 to the present, accompanying the other cycles of research. The curtain is a metaphor for painting and indicates by metonymy the support of the work itself, the canvas. It is, moreover, the visual presentification of the filter, of that element that at the same time hinders and opens the space of vision: the veil that by veiling reveals. Together with these, other works by Flavia Albu are presented, which similarly question the dynamics of vision and the relationship between aleatory and intentionality of the artistic gesture. The vision through is a special project of the artist and proposes for the first time in its completeness the non-finished series that accompanies her for years.
Flavia Albu (b. 1991) is a Romanian visual artist currently living and working in Milan, Italy.
Whether it is painting, video or installations, Flavia Albu is interested in declining and exploring the structural elements of painting in order to reflect on the representative device and vision, probing its connotations. Albu's gaze and her 'veil delimit the continuum of things, identify a portion that oscillates between a seeing through and a seeing in front of, the veil modifies its opacity, sometimes becoming a filter that reveals and sometimes a curtain that announces a theatricalization of the experience.”
